driving simulators ever conceived to teach kids the
dangers of this practice."

Serious Games bring sense of touch to medical training
The SimMan 3G is a robot that can cry, bleed, convulse,
go into cardiac arrest and do any number of other things
that humans do when their bodies are malfunctioning.
Also, it?s super creepy looking.
"Levi Strauss & Co. is launching the "Give Them Hope
Now" campaign today to raise $500,000 for the Hetrick-
Martin Institute, a nonprofit organization that supports
Harvey Milk High School. The New York school is
dedicated to helping lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender
and questioning students." The campaign has harnessed
various forms of social media in its outreach efforts.
Nichole Pinkard director of Innovation, Urban Education
Institute, University of Chicago, and founder of the
Digital Youth Network, brought together educators and
developers working in digital media and learning as part
of a set of convenings sponsored by The John D. and
Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Pinkard invited
MacArthur grantees and others who are creating schools,
tools, learning environments, curriculum and assessments
to work on building a common language and finding
collaborative opportunities across the work. We
interviewed two of the educators from this two-day event
held at the Carnegie Foundation in March, 2009.
Experts say digital games can help students grasp
difficult concepts, but warn against seeing them as
‘silver bullet’ solutions.
Major corporations, including Procter & Gamble (PG),
Electronic Arts (ERTS), and National Semiconductor
(NSM), have given some of their employees an unusual
assignment: play a free online game.
Admittedly, it?s not a typical entertainment video game,
with sophisticated 3D graphics, fantastical characters,
or shoot-?em-up plots. And the corporations aren?t just
allowing workers to have fun on the job. Instead, the
game, called Superstruct, asks players to imagine the
world in 2019.
Another augmented reality happening: "To promote the
release of Star Trek, Paramount has launched Experience
the Enterprise, an augmented reality web application
that allows you to explore the 3D ship in the palm of
your hand."
"Activision just confirmed a whole lot of heroes: the
long-teased DJ Hero being the most notable among them."
