    CIESE sponsors and designs interdisciplinary projects that teachers throughout the world can use to enhance their curriculum through compelling use of the Internet. We focus on projects that utilize real time data available from the Internet, and collaborative projects that utilize the Internet?s potential to reach peers and experts around the world. Below is a catalog of projects that are currently being or have been sponsored by CIESE . Each project has a brief description and links to the National Science Standards and NCTM math standards it supports.

    Grace Poli is the Media Specialist at the José Martí Middle School in Union City, New Jersey. Grace holds a B.A. in History with K-8 Certification, an M.A. in Urban Education and certificates in K-8, ESL, and Media Specialist. She is currently pursuing her Supervisors & Administrators certificates. She has worked in Union City School District as a humanities teacher, administrative intern, and media specialist since 2000.

    Free-Reading is an ongoing, collaborative, teacher-based, curriculum-sharing experiment. We're looking to provide a reliable forum where teachers can openly and freely share their successful and effective methods for teaching reading in grades K-1. Our premises are: * The research on how students learn to read is well-established. * The research on which instructional techniques work is well-understood. * The voices of those who know what works best -- the classroom teachers -- are rarely heard in instructional design. * The power of "we" is far greater than the power of "you" or "I."
